Capacity Building

IAPRI’s capacity building program is aimed at strengthening the quality of agricultural research policy analysis in Zambia through building capacity of individuals and institutions involved in agricultural policy research, formulation, advocacy, and implementation.


The following are the specific objectives of the IAPRI’s Capacity Building program:


  • To develop the capacity of its staff in order to effectively respond to the changing needs of the Institution to generate public goods and services;

  • To develop the capacity of selected private and public sector individuals and organizations to strengthen research activities within the country;

  • To enable key national partner organizations understand the research methods and utilize IAPRI’s research outputs more effectively; and,

  • To cultivate a “nursery” of competent young researchers through its internship and research scholarship programmes.


IAPRI’s capacity building work will be comprised of five components, with special focus on its staff, key collaborators, and partners from both public and private sector as follows;


  • Internal capacity building/staff development;

  • Other institutions capacity building;

  • Masters completion program;

  • Internship program; and,

  • Consultancy training.


IAPRI will maintain a repository of training materials, which will be downloadable from the Institute website in order to assist students, researchers, and policy makers etc. to use IAPRI research outputs.
